Connect Your Email to Mozilla Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open-source desktop email client for Windows, macOS and Linux. Its account wizard can auto-detect most IMAP/SMTP settings from your email address.

Download Thunderbird from thunderbird.net if you don't have it installed yet. Have your full email address, mailbox password and the server names from your My Emails page ready.

Step-by-Step

1

Open the Account Setup Wizard

On first launch, Thunderbird shows the account setup screen. Otherwise go to Menu → Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.

2

Enter Your Name, Email and Password

Fill in the three fields and click Continue. Thunderbird will try to auto-detect the correct server settings.

3

Switch to Manual Config if Needed

If auto-detect doesn't find the right server (common for custom domains), click Configure manually and enter:

Incoming (IMAP)server from My Emails, port 993, SSL/TLS, normal password auth
Outgoing (SMTP)server from My Emails, port 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS)
Usernameyour full email address
4

Re-test and Finish

Click Re-test. Once Thunderbird confirms IMAP and SMTP, click Done. Your folders will appear in the left-hand panel and begin syncing.

Tip: Thunderbird will warn you if it can't verify the certificate automatically - as long as you typed the server name from your My Emails page exactly, it's safe to accept and continue.
